Eulogy to Devoted Parents
August 30, 2002
Riverside National Cemetery
Good morning everyone. Please gather closer to us.
I am Eric Lachica Furbeyre, the eldest son of Mae and Enrique Furbeyre.
On behalf my five sisters, Gina, Suzette, Nanette,
Diane, Dominique, and brother Erle, may I briefly share with you our thoughts this morning.
We deeply thank you for coming to say GOODBYE to
our inseparable Mom and Pop. They were truly self-sacrificing immigrant parents that molded our characters and our wonderful
lives here in America.
Our presence today is a testament to Mae's and Enrique's
achievements.
They survived the tribulations of World War II. They
worked tirelessly in their respective professions: Mom as a librarian at USC and Dad as a flight engineer at Philippine Airlines.
They fed us, sheltered us and taught us well.
